  • Natural value: arborele a suferit in trecut o ruptura in coroana - una din ramurile principale a fost rupta de vant (probabil). rana s-a vindecat in timp. pe contraforti se observa prezenta putregaiului, care se extinde in interiorul trunchiului. arborele s-a uscat in 2014, probabil datorita bolii olandeze a ulmilor (ophiostoma ulmii).

  • Other human impact: arborele se afla intr-o rezervatie stricta, nu sunt interventii asupra lui.
  • Positive interventions: exista un mic panou de informare ce mentioneaza specia (ulmus montana), diametrul de 198 cm si varsta de 400 de ani.

  • Other: Arborele se afla in Rezervatia Naturala Izvoarele Nerei, inclusa in Parcul National Semenic - Cheile Carasului.
    • Importance
    Acest ulm singular este unul din simbolurile Rezervatiei Izvoarele Nerei. Se gaseste in interiorul celei mai extinse paduri virgine de la noi, la altitudinea de circa 950 m, in arboretul pur de fag, unde ajunge in plafonul superior al padurii. Dimensiunile sale sunt 192 cm diametru la 1.30 m, inaltime 37.5 m (masurate de Daniel Turcu in 2009). A fost botezat de silvicultorii locali cu numele lui Traian Doda, personalitate militara, politica si culturala a Vaii Almajului. Din pacate, arborele s-a uscat in vara anului 2014, probabil datorita ciupercii Ophiostoma ulmii.
