| Desi initial se credea ca este un plop alb, cercetarile mai amanuntite au indicat ca de fapt este un plop hibrid (Populus x canescens). Este foarte probabil ca acest plop a fost cel mai gros dintre toate speciile de plop din Romania, Europa si probabil si din lume in perioada de maxima dezvoltare a sa (1401 cm circumferinta in anul 1997). La ora actuala trunchiul este puternic afectat, fiind ars de mai multe ori in timp.
