  • Other human impact: desi este probabil cel mai vechi copac din capitala, platanul nu este ingradit si protejat. scorbura este adapost pentru oamenii strazii, facandu-se frecvent focul in interiorul lui. atat terenul cat si apa raului din preajma sa sunt poluate, crengile copacului rupte; pomul rezista si intra in vegetatie in fiecare sezon, desi nu are suficient teren, raportat la marimea sa. desi protejat, nu s-au facut lucrari de toaletate si nici fertilizare. un copac monument al naturii, lasat in plata domnului.

    Platanul de la Podul Cotroceni este, alaturi de dudul din curtea Bisericii Batistei, cel mai vechi copac din Bucuresti. A fost inclus pe lista arborilor protejati si marcat de Primaria Mun. Bucuresti. Cu toate acestea este acum 'casa' pentru oamenii strazii care fac focul in interiorul scorburei sale, care i-au taiat crengile si au poluat mediul din jurul lui. Se pare ca acest copac are cel putin 300 de ani, dateaza dinainte de vremea lui Alexandru Ioan Cuza, de cand au inceput primele lucrari de canalizare a raului Dambovita. Este un arbore impresionant, urias, care uimeste prin rezistenta cu care a supravietuit intr-un spatiu atat de ingust, inconjurat de betoane si neglijat de oameni.
